- Welcome to Global PartnersA Group for the Wanderlust
- Who We Are
Our mission is to promote international awareness through networking, mentoring, and volunteering to enhance students’ study away experience and further their development in becoming a young international professional.
Our StoryAnyone who has studied away knows what it is like trying to decide where to study; there are so many options! How are you supposed to know the difference between living in Aix-en-Provence and Paris? Or London verses Tokyo? The choices are endless, and that's where we come in. Global Partners was founded by a group of students who studied away and wanted a group of friends back home who understood what they were going through, but they didn't stop there. Today, we help students wanting to study abroad through the planning process by sharing stories, experiences, and advice. We are still a young organization on UAB's campus and are growing each semester and we need people like you to get involved to make this group everything it can be.Our MembersThink this is just a group for the traveled? Think again. Global Partners is open to any and all students at UAB interested in studying abroad. Our members range from incoming freshman to graduate students; everyone is classified as either a Mentor (a student who has studied abroad), or a Mentee (a student who wants to study abroad). Some of the places our Mentors have studied abroad include: Spain, France, England, Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Japan, United Arab Emirates, and Australia. If you are interested in contacting a Mentor to learn more about their experience, click here. Our FutureWhen we envision Global Partners' future, we see a diverse community of individuals united by a similar passion. We see more than a group of students, we see shared experiences capable of providing friendships that last a lifetime. Not only do we want to foster this ideal environment, but we want to give back to our members. We aspire to offer scholarships applicable toward their study abroad and academic pursuits. We can't do this without you! Join Global Partners and help make our vision a reality. - GP TeamMeet the team and reach out to our Mentors!Amanda ViikinsaloPresidentI studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France my sophomore year. How do I choose one experience to talk about when so much of it was amazing? The only thing I can say is that I had the best homestay family, made lifelong friends, and now want to travel the rest of my life.Leeza CoppockVice PresidentI studied abroad in Paris, France the summer after my sophomore year. My most memorable experiences were taking a weekend trip to Normandy's countryside and spending two weeks in Tel Aviv, Israel to end my summer abroad.Position OpenSecretaryInterested in becoming Global Partners' Secretary?
